National Seminar on Tourism Academia Industry Interface vis-à-vis ODL system

Two days National Seminar on Tourism Academia Industry Interface vis-à-vis ODL system was organized at Rajya Atithi Grah, Nainital on 29th-30th March 2011 by the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani. The National Seminar aimed at creating a platform for discussion and deliberation of ideas towards developing parity among the Industry demand and academic programmes. Also, the National Seminar envisaged to evolve better Tourism practices and to discuss challenges and threats of varied nature to Tourism Industry. The National Seminar broadly invited research papers on the following themes

  • Building avenues for Tourism education through Open and Distance mode of learning.
  • Environment and Tourism- Building awareness via Distance Mode of Education.
  • Enhancing employability through practically applicable Tourism Education Development- ICT Intervention
  • Exploring new areas for Tourism development.
  • Tourism Promotion and Marketing
  • Tourism System
  • Heritage-Pilgrimage circuits of Uttarakhand- challenges and Potentials
  • Broadening horizons of Employment through entrepreneurial competencies in Tourism.

However, it was an indicative list; other particicpants with interest in Tourism and Hospitality were also invited.

There were 61 outstation, 20 UOU and 11 Resource persons from the Academics and Industry who participated and presented their research papers in the National Seminar. The researchers came from Pondicherry University, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Delhi University, Bundelkhand University, Graphic Era University, HNB Garhwal University, IMS Ghaziabad, Dr Baba Saheb Marathwada University, Aligarh University, Amity University, IHMCT Lucknow, Kumaon University.
