Objective: 

The objective of this course is to make the student understand the importance of productivity, its concepts and application Total Quality Management environment.

Productivity: Concept of Productivity, Importance of Productivity, Labour Productivity and its Limitation, Different types of productivity, Measurement of Productivity; Value Analysis and Value Engineering: Concepts procedures, application and role in productivity; Learning and Experience Curves: Concepts, application, Quantitative Estimates, barriers to application; Job Evaluation, Merit Rating and Wage Incentive Plans
Total Quality Management: Quality Principles, Quality defined, cost of Quality, organisation-wide quality management (TQM); Quality Principles - Deming, Juran, Grossby, Ishikawa, Taguchi, Quality Awards ; Mai com Baldrige; Quality Control and Quality Assurance: Concepts of Quality Control, Concepts of process variation, Acceptance sampling, Sampling Inspection versus 100% inspection, Attributes and Variable Sampling Plans, OC Curves, Producer and Consumer Risk - AQL, RQL, TQL, AOQL and AOL.
Statistical Process Control - Control charts - X-R-P, np and C Charts -Benefits of control charts and Application.
Quality Management - Assistance Tools - Ishikawa Fish Bone Diagram -House of Quality Nominal Group Technique - Quality Grades – Flow Charts - Pareto Analysis - Poka Yoke (Mistake Proofing); Reliability - concepts and components - concepts of failure - Reliability of system - success and failure models in series and parallel - Methods of achieving higher reliability - concepts of maintain ability and availability -comparison with reliability.
Managing and organisation for quality - Quality Policy - Quality Objectives - Leadership for quality - quality and organizational culture - change management - Team Building
Quality Standards - ISO 9000, ISO 14000, QS 900 series; Outlines application and Prerequisites - Quality Audit and Quality Manual.
